The washing station of Ayele Tulu is now 5 years in production. With a total of 10 employees and a processing site of 6 hectares, it’s considered a rather small washing station in Ethiopia. Ayele is a very passionate man and proud of the area where he lives. 10 years ago the area of Sidama had the reputation of having a rather lower coffee quality; This was due to most of the coffee growing on higher altitudes, as higher altitudes such as 1900 MASL, the coffee plants would start to die due to the cold temperatures. Today, with global warming, the region of Sidama is experiencing coffee plants that grow in altitudes up to 2200 MASL, which results in more interesting profiles in coffee beans.
